The use of technology, such as mobile phone apps, has been relatively unexplored in the context of young people in the UK youth justice system. Instead, within the youth justice system, the use of technology has largely focused either on surveillance or supporting organizational structures and processes. This project is exploring how technology can help improve interactions and engagement between young people and their case workers.
Our MAYOT_APP allows case workers to provide relevant, timely information to a young person to help them manage the requirements of their youth justice order. MAYOT_APP also includes features such as appointment reminders and encourages communication through direct, easy access to relevant contacts such as professional and personal support networks.
